Oddity and Fossil Boxes
Seafoam Palace presents a workshop for fossil hunters, botany lovers and collectors of rocks and trinkets. Whether found on your last expedition to Mazaghan or an archaeological dig in your own backyard, your souvenirs and prehistoric evidence can easily be displayed with supplies found around your house. In this two-hour class, you will learn how to arrange, label and create a box for your collection with glass, cardboard, fabric, tape and glue.
Bring a few rocks and minerals, petrified wood, calcite fossils, bones, feathers or any other small items you’d like to display – we’ll supply the box materials and will have some extra curiosities on hand. Use your imagination to label your treasures or come prepared with scientific names that we can type on vintage paper for a historic look. After this class you will walk away with your own box and the skill to make more at home.
Our workshop is taught by artist Kim Couchot in Jefferson Chalmers, Detroit (exact address TBA). Please pre-register since space is limited.
Suggested donation $10-25 – any amount over $10 will go towards materials for the class.
